Sensei Anthony Tockar

Sensei Anthony Tockar began walking the same martial path as his father many decades ago at age 5. He graded to his shodan in 2000 at the age of 15, and to his nidan in 2006. He was graded to his sandan in 2016 by a panel of shihans including Kenny Uytenbogaardt, Stuart Corrigal, Nikola Cujic, Trevor Tockar, and Con Kakatsos, and to his yondan in 2023 by Kancho Matsui.
Sensei Anthony has a long and impressive tournament history including the 2005 Maccabiah Games in Israel where he took home 2 bronze medals in non-contact kumite; the 2005 Maccabiah International Games in Sydney – again bringing home a bronze medal; reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Nationals in 2008; representing Australia and reaching quarter finals in the Tri-Nations Tournament held in Cape Town in 2008; taking first place as NSW Champion in 2010; and competing in both the 10th and 11th World Open Karate Tournaments in November 2011 and 2015.
In 2012 he won the Queensland State titles, New Zealand National title, Australian National title and Yokozuna. He achieved 2nd place in the heavy weight division of the United States Weight Category Tournament (Los Angeles) in 2013.
Sensei Anthony coaches the fighting team at North Bondi dojo and continues to compete at a high level both nationally and internationally.
